This fine statue is made of torreya wood, which was dried for several years before the artist undertook this six-month-long work. To avoid cracking and dampness, he utilized a unique method by which he carved different blocks of wood for the different parts of the body, including a root for the head, then after hollowing out the form, he glued the four parts together.
