This celadon porcelain vase features an inlaid lotus flower design. The lotus design exhibits the traditional inlaying technique by which flowers are in white slip whereas the stalks and leaves are expressed in fine black.

The design of the lotus, a symbol of Buddha's seat as well as the Western Paradise where Buddha resides, was used extensively for architecture, houseware and personal ornaments.
