This celadon ceramic bud vase features a body formed by a bamboo stem carved in relief and round body with fully bloomed Maehwa paint on the surface. The bamboo, one of the "four noble beings" (sagunja), symbolizes loyalty as its leaves and stalks stay green throughout the seasons. Another sagunja motifs loved by Korean artists, maehwa refers to the Korean plum blossom that has long been the herald of spring.
