A dragon holding its tail up swims forcefully while riding a lotus flower in this uniquely-shaped celadon antique pottery decanter, a fine reproduction of 12th century Goryeo dynasty masterpiece. The head of the dragon holding its tongue out forms the spout, while the tail and fins raised above the head becomes the water intake and lid. The fin-shaped wings are pushed back to give the impression that the dragon is moving forward, while the voluminous body looks as if it is surging through the water. The lotus flower bottom and the handle in the shape of twisted lotus stem give the ewer both a balance and a sense of stability.
