A cluster of fully bloomed chrysanthemums inlaid with white slip decorates the body of this voluminous celadon porcelain jar. It is quite remarkable that the flowers are depicted as if they are overflowing from the jar?s slightly pressed mouth. One of the ?four noble beings� (sagunja) symbolizing fidelity and loyalty, the chrysanthemum has been one of the most favorite subjects used for adorning craftworks as it blooms until late autumn, thus overcoming the frost.
