The white background is ornamented with fine wave patterns. The serene color of the gray white glaze and the flowers painted in red and white create a delightful harmony. One of the sagunja ("four noble beings") motifs loved by Korean artists, maehwa refers to the Korean plum blossom that has long been the herald of spring.
